Director Imtiaz Ali again brings the most wanted couple of Ye Jawani Hai Diwani together after a long interval of three years in his latest film Tamasha. The film casts Ranbir Kapoor opposite Deepika Padukone as the lead. Audience will also enjoy some exotic views of Corsica in the movie. The film received great opening and hopes to do a good business this week end.
The movie is obviously a love story but with a twist, as we can always expect from Imtiaz Ali’s direction. The movie tells the story of a simple guy ‘Ved’ who had his own dreams but they got pissed off under parental pressure. The basic theme of trial and error and the late realization, which Imtiaz portrays in all his films, is prominent even in this movie. The other side of the coin i.e., Deepika as Tara is more sure-footed and emerges as a women of mystery who helps the hopelessly trapped idealist to entangle the complexities of life.
Working with an already separated couple must have been difficult but the reality in case of Ranbir and Deepika is different. In an interview with ETV head Jagdish Chandra Ranbir commented “We both are very ambitious and we respect each other’s views. So we have a mutual understanding which has kept up the spirit of our friendship even after separation.”
The story of the film can be called as another attempt of Imtiaz to explore youth and their attitude towards life and love. It is obviously better than Rockstar but not better than Highway. On the other hand the criticism that Ranbir was facing for immature acting has surprisingly been padlocked in this movie. Both Ranbir and Deepika has acted on their part.
